Green Smoothie recipe

In the last couple of months we have really grown to like this green smoothie, so it's time to share the recipe.

Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

- a couple of leaves of kale (without the hard bit in the middle)
- Apple juice or other fruit juice you prefer,  filling 1/4 of the Vitamix jug
- 3 ripe bananas
- a handful of almonds

- optional, 1 bananas and 3 pears instead of 3 bananas
- optional, fresh and tender lettuce instead of kale
- optional, a bit of crushed ice

Preparation:

Put kale and apple juice in the blender and mix until the liquid is perfectly smooth
Add the other ingredients, then mix
If you wish, add a bit of ice but don't crush it too small
Pour and enjoy!

Review: Tesco "free from" ginger cookies (with gluten-free oat flour) wheat, dairy and gluten free

Tesco "free from" ginger cookies  http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=268624669 Hello everyone! The pirate drawing!

I love how Marie has coloured my pirate. Such a cute choice of pastel colours. Who on earth said that pirates must wear just black and earth colours! This is great! Brava! How to beat cold sores

How to beat cold sores (If you don't want to know about cold sores, and just want the therapy, scroll all the way down) If you have ever suffered with cold sores, (herpes simplex virus -HSV- type 1)  you know how annoying they are: first, the redness, then the tingling, the crust, not to mention the pain and the insult of the ugly scab, all this lasting for about two weeks. I suffered from cold sores in my twenties and thirties, but fortunately they all but disappeared by the time I was about 35. Hurrah! I was finally free from this horrible problem. UNTIL - I was 39 weeks pregnant with my daughter and a student visited me with a baby who had chicken pox (but nobody knew until the day after she visited me). Terrified, my students duly informed me and apologised profusely for letting me have contact with chicken pox - which as most people know, can cause fatal damage and problems in pregnancy. Now, I had alr...
